Act 1: Consequences
"There are always answers to questions... All but one. What does one do when they are stopped from getting what they want? They do whatever needs to be done, and to hell with the consequences."
The scene opens on the beautiful South Pacific. The night had come on fast and another night with a crystal clear sky. The stars were shinning brightly against the black sky, and the waves gently moved against the shore. The sound of crickets are soon heard, mixing with the sound of roars and howls coming from something that was coming from deep within the forest. The camera moves through the empty city, passing by wild strange looking creatures that moved through the old buildings looking for their next meal. They were slim, yet had the shape of wolves or some sort of large dog and their eyes glowed a bright red as they moved. The camera moves toward the massive tower that was lit just around the top. We head inside and into one of the bedrooms where we find Rene sitting on the edge of her bed with her head in her hands. The sound of thundering footsteps can be heard approaching the room. She doesn't look up, as she hears the footsteps. Ragnarok knocks surprisingly gently on her door.
Rene: Come in.
Ragnarok opens the door and ducks inside he looks at her with concern. She looks up at him, with bruises still along her face from the beating she had taken at the hands of Apocalypse. She sighs and gets to her feet flinching slightly. Ragnarok hangs his head in shame as he was unable to protect her. He did not try to explain, excuses were not becoming of him. He knew he screwed up.
Rene: Don't blame yourself... They came out of nowhere...
Ragnarok: If I cannot protect you properly then what use am I?
Rene: I didn't ask you to come with me to the ring. I will not make the same mistake twice.
Ragnarok: I should have been there anyways.
Rene sighs as she moves to him placing her hand on his arm. She smiles softly feeling his muscles under her hand flex.
Rene: I know, but we can't dwell on the past... I've been doing that for the last few days... Longer now, it seems, and it has gotten me no where.
Ragnarok: What is our next plan?
Rene: I'm not sure... Emily and I couldn't even finish our match... And that... Rene clenches her hands into fists as her eyes seem to shift into a strange looking set of black slit eyes going back to their normal color.
Rene: That woman....Interrupted our match.
Ragnarok: We will make them pay.
Rene: If I get my hands on any of them there will be no next time...
Ragnarok: Is there anything I can do to help you?
Rene: I need to train harder, and be ready for anything that anyone can throw at me. That and I want you at ringside with me.
Ragnarok: I will train with you and walk you to the ring and...
Rene looks at him with a raised eyebrow.
Rene: And?
Ragnarok: And if anyone comes near the ring I will obliterate them.
Rene smiles with a smile that seems almost toothier than usual.
Rene: Thank you. This is a new beginning for us.
Ragnarok: Shall I prepare training or do you need food and rest first?
Rene: A little bit of rest and then I'll have something.
Ragnarok: As you wish, do you need anything from me or do you just wish to rest?
Rene: No, I'll be fine.
Ragnarok nods and backs from the room and carefully closes the door. She walks back to the bed, and climbs under the rose colored comforter and turns off of the light once again, as the scene fades to black.
The scene reopens on the massive lab where we see Rene standing in front of a microscope looking through the eye piece. She sighs seeing nothing different and steps back with her head hung. The smell of cleaning products seems to float on the air, as the sound of a ceiling fan breaks the utter silence within the lab. She puts a hand to her head, and sighs.
Rene: Why am I wasting my time on something that can't be found? I know there is something wrong with me, but I can't figure out what it is. I have no to turn to let alone understand what I am going through. I could turn to Jennifer but... She knows nothing of science... Maybe I shouldn't let this bother me right now... I have to worry about my match that I have coming. Blaze Havoc... I've seen you around the hallways of NCW but you have yet to be a threat to anyone that you come across. You act tough, but you are nothing more than a bully running with the crowd that think they are better than everyone around them. I am afraid you are not scary, you are not a threat or have the cranial capacity to do so.
She goes to leave the lab but a cold chill seems to come out of nowhere. She turns seeing a shadow move from behind one of the curtains in the lab hiding a steel slab.
Rene: Whoever you are come out!
The camera pans back suddenly as a figure steps from the shadows. Two eyes like cats eyes reflecting the light as the pale figure of Sephiroth du Lac surprises her. He stares at her somberly as his gaze chills her to the bone
Seph: Hello, Doctor. I hope I'm not interrupting anything important.
She swallows hard as she watches him inching a little bit closer to the door.
Rene: Of... Of... of course not. I was just running a few tests.
He stops as she inches toward the door an amused smile creeping on his face.
Seph: Relax, Doctor. This shall be over quickly. I didn't come to harm you. In fact I came to help you if you can believe such things.
Rene looks at him with a raised eyebrow.
Rene: What might that be? I can handle things on my own. But thank you for the offer.
Once more amused he seems to chuckle. More at her bravado then anything else.
Seph: Ah, the cry of modern science. So sure you know everything . That the old ways cannot hold any truth to them. She said you would say that. But you couldn't be more wrong. Such is the danger of hubris, Doctor. One cannot run from oneself. I know this better then anyone.
He says as he reaches into his long cloak like trench coat and pulls a small white card like the back of an old photo. Rene looks at what he has in his hand her curiosity peaked.
Rene: Whoever you speak of I'm sure they have me mistaken for someone else. They say my mother and I looked much alike... But my mother has been dead for many years sir...
He shakes his head toying with the card letting it twirl in his fingers.
Seph: No, Doctor. I do not speak of your mother. And yet I ask isn't it odd you have no recollection of her? With all your clear memories dating back . Your penchant for research you never looked into who she was? No social security number. No birth records. Yours are all clear but hers? Isn't it... curious?
Rene shakes her head.
Rene: I never really looked into it. My father always told me about her. I had no reason to go and look into such things.
Seph: Yet he hid so much. The question is who was he protecting. I had my own suspicions. I indulged them and I know the truth. The truth about him. The truth about your mother. And the truth about you.
He flings the card toward her letting it land at her feet. As she picks it up the camera pans over her shoulder revealing the card in more detail. The card is a photo half singed as if in a fire and yet there remains an image. The image of a girl in a tube of green liquid floating with blond hair that she knows all too well. She looks up from the photo with wide eyes.
Rene: Where did you get this? This can't be true! I'm... I'm... His perfect creation...
She stares in horror at the photo but as she looks up for answers no one is there. The only trace of him where he was standing is a single black rose with a ribbon and card tied to it. She picks up the rose, and runs out of the lab. She moves down the long corridor trying to find him, but to no avail. Ragnarok steps out into the hallway as she stops for a moment.
Rene: Did you see him?
Ragnarok: Who?
Rene: The man with the silver hair!
Ragnarok: I haven't seen anyone! But he couldn't have gotten far!
Rene: Find him! I need answers!
Ragnarok: As you wish. I'll go and check the beach. He can't get out of here unless it's on a boat.
Rene: Alright. Let me know when you find something.
Ragnarok nods and walks off, leaving Rene alone once again. She looks at the card with the black rose and sees an address. She looks at the rose before setting it down on the counter and looks at the picture once again.
Rene: This cannot be me! But... She... It has my hair, my face. This could have been faked... But something tells me that it is not. What am I? Am I even human? I... I... I can't let this get to me for now... Blaze has to fall at my feet. Once that is done I can worry about this. Blaze I'm not sure if you even realize what you are facing in this match. I'm not an easy fight and I will do whatever it takes to bring you down or any of your little group of followers.
She starts to head toward the elevator as she sees Ragnarok coming back toward the building. She hits the button for the elevator and soon the doors open and she steps inside. She presses the button on the wall and the doors close. The doors soon open and she is on the main floor of the building. The lobby was clean and seemed to be kept maintained by someone, and kept free of the dust and dirt that the rest of the island had suffered from. She steps out into the bright afternoon sun, putting a hand to her face to to shield her eyes from the sun.
Rene: Blaze I have yet to even hear from you that is why I am not worried about you. Most of my opponents will usually say something at least before now, but you have been silent. But then again... I will not underestimate you, let alone let my guard down. I will do whatever it takes to put you down and I will not stop until it is done.
She soon meets up with Ragnarok.
Rene: Well? Did you find him?
Ragnarok: No, but I did find something that you need to see.
Rene follows him back toward the beach. As they approach the beach a large strange looking creature with long tentacles ripped and cut in a variety of places. Th black blood had already started to dry, even with the waves lapping against it. Rene runs her hand along the scaled creature's skin, and she looks at Ragnarok.
Ragnarok: Who could have done this?
Rene: The man with the silver hair...
Ragnarok looks over at her but then turns his attention back to the strange looking creature as the scene fades to black.
