Act 1: Memories
Without memory, there is no culture. Without memory, there would be no civilization, no society, no future.
Elie Wiesel
St. Augustine, Florida
Present Day
The scene opens on the beautiful city of St. Augustine. The beautiful blue sky loomed over head, with the soft white clouds drifting in silence. The water was a crystal clear blue even after the hurricane that had made it's way over the state. A few pieces of the board walk had been torn away from the high water, but were now being fixed. The city was full of life, with tourists that made their way through the historical sites that littered the city. The smell of waffle cones seemed to drift from the various ice cream shops that littered George Street, mixing with the few coffee shops that were near by. The sound of horse hooves could be heard moving along the streets taking people on tours of the city, while the trams dropped people off and picked them up from different parts of the city. The long boardwalk that ran along the beach was filled with people taking pictures of the pristine beach that laid out before them. The fort sat over looking the harbor had tails and spirits that wandered in search of peace while the city held secrets from a time gone by. People walked round in pirate garb and were stopped to have pictures taken. We see Ambros walking with Denise. She was dressed in a black and blue pirate outfit. The skirt was pinned up in the front, letting us see her long legs, and a pair of black pirate boots. The wide brimmed black hat was over her eyes to keep the sun out for the day, and the bodice seemed to be low cut, and revealing the tanned ample breasts that were barely holding on. He was wearing black jeans cut to the knees a wallet chain, black boots, a black leather motorcycle jacket unzipped with a Deathbringer t-shirt underneath. Silver reflective sunglasses. In one hand he holds the cane that was gifted to him he is walking without it but still having a slight limp.
Denise: I love this city. It has so much history.
Ambros: Before meeting you it was get up, train, go to the ring, hotel room, airport repeat process. I never took time to appreciate the cities I've been in.
Denise: I've traveled the world, but I always seem to come back to the states. Plus when you're immortal you tend to travel.
Ambros: You were the best thing to happen to me, you taught me to take time to myself and enjoy life.
Denise smiles and looks at him from underneath the wide brimmed hat.
Denise: I didn't do anything... You just needed a bit of a push.
Ambros: I needed a reason to start living.
Denise: And now you a have reason. I love you.
Ambros: I love you too.
Denise smiles as they reach what appears to be an old gate but the bridge and the gates were long since gone.
Denise: At one point in time this was the only way in and out of the city.
Ambros: What happened? Time? Disaster? Or humanity?
Denise: Just fell out of disrepair. This is the oldest European inhabited city in the world. It's never been vacant. There has always been someone living here. This is the oldest city in the US. It was discovered long before Jamestown, and Plymouth.
Ambros: Amazing, I like quiet and solitude, I was never a people person.
Denise: St. Augustine was a haven for pirates at one time. Hench why most people are dressed as such. Black Bart, Black Beard, and a few others came here and hauled treasure through those narrow alley ways to the lush greenery that laid just beyond.
Ambros: Amazing. This is incredible.
Denise: But then again... They weren't the only ones that were here... I was too... And what a wonderful time it was.
She smiles as they stop in front of a very old looking wooden building.
Ambros: What is this place?
Denise: This is the oldest wooden school house.
She looks over at him, and sighs.
Denise: I must be boring you...
Ambros: No everything is amazing, you're amazing.
Denise blushes.
Denise: Thank you. Come on, we'll catch the trolley and head to the fort.
Ambros: Alright, lead the way.
Soon a trolley pulls up, and Ambros helps Denise up first, and follows behind taking a seat beside her. They soon pull away from the curb, and they head through the city, moving closer to the fort that loomed over the beach below.
Ambros: What is that fort?
Denise: This is the fort that De Leon built to protect the city and to keep the English out. The English ships hit the fort with everything they had only to have the Spanish come out every night and seal it back up.
Ambros: That is impressive. Not unlike you. All these challengers hit you with everything they can and you come back stronger and unbeatable.
Denise nods.
Denise: I know, but one day that might change. I mean St. Augustine did fall to the English.
Ambros: Worst case is a temporary setback.
Denise: True. But I'm not going to let my title go that easy.
Ambros: I know you won't, trying to beat my record?
Denise laughs.
Denise: I will never beat your record.
Ambros: Yes you will, I have faith.
She smiles as the trolley soon stops in front of the fort. Denise steps down, and looks up at the fort and waits for Ambrose to step out behind her. Ambros hops out landing on his good leg. She wraps her arm around his as they start to head up the pathway that lead toward the fort. They pass through the porticluss and across the drawbridge that lead into the main part of the fort.
Ambros: This is incredible. I am having a wonderful time.
Denise: I'm so glad. This has been perfect day. It's a shame that I have to get ready for my match soon.
Ambros: They certainly have you working hard tonight. Tough competition.
Denise nods.
Denise: That's for sure. I mean they're all after the Siren's Championship but I can't let it go that easy.
Ambros: It's not you your style. They will be hard pressed and I don't think they will be able to beat you. You will be bringing that gold home with you.
Denise: I know I will. Avery is going to be in bad shape by the time that match rolls around. I mean she has a tag match earlier that night before she gets to the Siren's Championship.
Ambros: Yeah and can she really trust Jennifer they have had some brutal wars in EWU and AUW.
Denise: True. I heard what Lexi had to say about this match. She really thinks that she is going to pull the win out from her ass doesn't she?
Ambros: A big mistake to underestimate you. She really has even put effort in any of her past matches in NCW.
Denise: True. She came into the NCW and hasn't proven anything to anyone. She is not going to win this match. Look at who else is in this match.... I mean my own tag team partner is in it, and I know Necra isn't going to hold back on me.
Ambros: Necra is one of the toughest I ever faced.
Denise: Me too, to be honest.
Ambros: She I think will be your biggest threat.
Denise: I think you maybe right. Joanne isn't a slacker either. She'll be looking to put everyone else down just to get to the end.
Ambros: Agreed along with Emily and Venus. Emily might have some ring rust, Venus is more of a tag team competitor. Speaking of teams the two Forsaken members will probably work as a team
Denise laughs.
Denise: Those two? The Jade sisters? Please. They didn't even have a real match. They have yet to say anything, and they want to come after the big bad Deathbringer?
Ambros: They will have their gang ready to attack, Dread and I will be there to watch your back.
Denise: I have no doubt they will try something, but at least I'll have you and Dread watching over me. I'm not scared of any of them. They can try to take the Siren's title away from me but none of them have what it takes to bring me down in this match.
Denise: True.
They reach the parapets and she looks out over the harbor.
Denise: I know each of them will bring whatever they have to the ring, but I will too. I'm not going to stop until I have the title safely in my hands again.
Ambros: And we will celebrate afterwards.
Denise: Yes, yes we will.
Ambros pulls her close looking out into the harbor. Denise smiles and lays her head on his shoulder, as the scene fades to black.
The scene reopens on the city of St. Augustine. The sun had been set for hours, and now the moon had replaced the sun for another night. The city still glowed brightly from the street lights that lined the narrow streets. The sound of music flowed from a live band somewhere in the city, and it seemed to echo off of the old city walls that were still scattered around the city. The camera passes by the now darkened shops, and the somewhat quiet streets. A few ghost tours made their way around the city, telling the stories of the spirits that were said to roam the city. We soon see Denise still dressed in the pirate outfit from earlier. She walks along the streets and soon approaches one of the graveyards that could be found within the old city walls.
Denise: Today has been a perfect day, and it's not over yet. Te sun has set giving a new look to the city itself. This cit has a life of it's own, and a soul that has never died. Ambrose is right, no matter how many times I get hit, I just come back stronger, and stand against the odds. I know all of you will be coming after me with everything that you have and I will have to fend you all off, but I know I can do it. I've stood against greater odds before and this won't be any different. I'm not going to stand here and address each of you just to hear myself talk.
Denise smiles as she walks along the chain linked fence surrounding the graveyard.
Denise: I'm not going to waste my time on any of you. I heard what each of you had to say and I really don't care what any of you think about me. I plan on winning this match no matter what I have to do to put the rest of you down, and hold onto the Siren's Title in the end. You can say whatever you want to say about how you're going to beat me, or how you're going to get to the top when we all know what is going to happen in our match.
She walks a little bit further and soon runs into one of the ghost tour groups that soon start to take pictures of the graveyard from behind the high gated walls.
Denise: Don't worry ladies I'll be ready for anything that you can throw at me, and you better hope for the best. I am the Deathbringer and she comes for thee! See you soon and good luck, you're going to need it.
She walks off as the crowd gathers at the gate listening to the story of the ghosts that could be found, as the scene fades to black.
