Act 1: A Warning from the Canadian Mafia
"They say that a Canadian Stand off is when time stands still and all that matters is proper etiquette."
Sara - Mann Shorts
The scene opens on the beautiful city of Winnipeg. The afternoon sun was shimmering over the city, and over the river where personal boats sat along with a few paddle boats that sat along the shore. The Royal Mint loomed over the near by park, where people enjoyed the afternoon sun. The tall buildings cast their shadows along the street, and the sounds of the birds filled the air, mixing with the sound of the traffic that flowed through the streets. The smells from the now blossoming trees and flowers lingered on the air, mixing with the river and local restaurants that lined the streets. The camera soon focuses on the Canad Inns Destination Center Fort Garry. The main lobby was done in a dark colored wood, on the lower half of the main desk, while the walls were done in a cream color, and the carpet was done in a mix of light and darker gray colors. The camera moves through the lobby and toward the elevators, and soon the scene changes to one of the suites that were on the upper floors. One of the doors open, and we see Rude pick up a box that sat in front of the door, and takes it back into the suite, that was done in a Roman theme. The floors were done in a light marble and the tall pillars were done in a white marble. The faint smell of chlorine from the hot tub floats on the air, as steam rolls up from it. The central air, was cool and felt good in the hot afternoon, and the furniture was done in white material and wood painted white to match the wine colored carpet in the master bedroom. We see Joanne sitting on the white leather couch, looking over some papers in her hands. She looks up as she sees the package and leans forward.
Rude: Hey boss did you order anything?
Joanne: Not that I know of.
Rude: It could be a bomb...
Joanne: I somehow doubt anyone here would send me a bomb.
Rude: True. But then again, you never know...
Joanne: Go ahead and open it.
Rude starts to open the package slowly, and soon reveals a block of maple candy with a fish in the middle of it. Joanne raises an eyebrow looking at it, as Reno walks into the room.
Reno: Oh shit!
Joanne: What the hell is this?
Rude: It's from the Canadian Mafia!
Joanne: Canada doesn't have a Mafia!
Rude: Yes they do.
Joanne: Are you tellin' me that the nicest people in the world have a mob? How? What do they smuggle?
Reno: Maple syrup, and other stuff...
Joanne: So what does the fish in the maple syrup mean?
Rude: It's a warning.
Reno: They want a sit down and an apology.
Joanne sighs and leans back on the white leather sofa and sighs.
Joanne: It must have somethin' to do with what happened to Uh Oh and Scarpaci when we were in Alberta then... I'm not even sure who's in charge of the Canadian Mafia...
Rude: You're father will know.
Joanne gets to her feet throwing her hands up in the air, and sighs.
Joanne: Give him a call for me. I still can't wrap my mind around this.
Reno: What are you going to do?
Joanne: I got a text this mornin' about my match at the next show. So I'm goin' to start to get ready for it.
Rude: Right.
Joanne walks into the bedroom and opens the balcony doors. She steps out onto the balcony looking out over the city, and pulls out a thin cigar and lights it. She takes a drag from it, as a plume of smoke forms around her head.
Joanne: It looks like that I will be facin' off against someone that I don't even consider a threat. I mean look at who you sided with, and yet you think you're goin' to be able to walk out of this match in one piece? Tell me what have you done to make me want to take notice of you and say that I am afraid of you? Nothin'! I know I haven't been in the ring a lot but I'm always ready for a fight and anyone that is willin' to face off against me. I plan on winnin' this match no matter what I have to do to beat the shit out of you.
Joanne smiles as she takes another drag from the cigar in her hand, as she leans against the railing.
Joanne: CJ I know you are goin' to put up a fight, but just know this is my kind of fight and I am not afraid of gettin' bloody. Weapons are goin' to be used and I will use everythin' on the street that I can get my hands on. This is goin' to be one hell of a fight and one that you are never goin' to win. This is my time to shine and when I step into the middle of the street for this one its goin' to be one that you will never forget, if you don't end up dead that is.
She laughs as she finishes her cigar and puts the rest out.
Joanne: I've always seen myself as a fighter, and not one to give up without a fight. That's the difference between you and I. You're a pretender but me, I'm the real thin'. I've been in this business a long time, and I don't plan on stoppin' any time soon. This match is just the beginnin', and trust me when I'm done with you there will be nothin' left to you that anyone will be willin' to claim. You better be ready for anythin' that I can throw at you because I'm goin' to be. We are the Mafioso and we get paid to kick your ass! See you and good luck, you're goin' to need it.
She turns and heads back out of the bedroom, as her phone rings. She answers it and stops in the doorway.
Joanne: Hello? Thank you daddy... I guess it looks like we have to have a sit down then... Arrange it, and I'll meet with them whenever. Alright. Love you too.
With that Joanne hangs up, and soon closes the bedroom door behind her, as the scene fades to black.
