Act 1: Losing is not the end of the world
There's always failure. And there's always disappointment. And there's always loss. But the secret is learning from the loss, and realizing that none of those holes are vacuums.
Michael J. Fox
The scene opens on the beautiful city of Saskatoon. The trees were in full bloom and the sweet smell of the flowers filled the air once again. The morning sun was bright over head, as the sound of tractors plowing their fields for another season echos along the vast fields that stretch out as far as the eye could see. The camera moves over the city of Saskatoon and soon comes to a stop on the James Hotel that loomed over the city. The camera moves to the interior of the hotel where we see the light colored marble floors, and the cream colored walls and the railings were done in a black wrought iron. The camera moves toward the elevators and up the long shaft before coming to a stop on one of the upper floors on the Penthouse suite. The suite itself was done in white walls and a dark almost black hardwood floors in the kitchen and dinning room. The living room was done with white furniture and black carpet with beautiful view of the city that stretched out as far as the eye could see. The doors to the balcony were open and a light breeze moved through the suite as we see Avery and Mike lying in the giant king sized bed, with the down filled white quilt that was pulled over them. Avery slowly opens her eyes and stretches as she sits up. She gets up from the bed dressed in a long t-shirt and very short shorts. She looks over at Mike and smiles softy before stepping out onto the balcony.
Avery: I still can't believe I lost... But I can't dwell on a loss. It's been a while since I've been in a decent match like that.
Voice: That's for sure.
Avery turns around and smiles softly, seeing him walking out onto the balcony dressed in a pair of pjama pants and no shirt showing off his well built chest. He wraps his arms around her, and kisses her on the neck.
Avery: How long have you been up?
Mike: A little while.
Avery: Really? When I got up, you were...
Mike: I was just falling back to sleep when you got up. Something is bothering you though...
Avery: I'm fine.
Mike: You lost your title... I mean I would understand if you are upset about it.
Avery smiles and shakes her head.
Avery: I'm not to upset about it actually. I mean she had a lot of rage going into that match and everything. Her best friend has been taken by the new Pinnacle Champion and no one can find her. Plus her husband was attacked. I can understand where she's coming from. In the years that I was adventuring we had weird stuff happen, and were attacked from every side.
Mike: You haven't really talked about most of it. But who was crazy enough to go after you?
Avery: Guys in snake outfits... I'll tell you about them later...
Mike looks at her with raised eyebrow and smiles.
Mike: Yeah you will. I feel bad that I won my match and that you lost. I figured we would both walk away with wins under us that night.
Avery just shrugs.
Avery: I'm not going to dwell on the loss. I have to focus on the match coming up.
Mike: I can't believe you accepted that challenge.
Avery: She was crazy enough to do it. I answered it... It's not going to be my fault if she gets hurt.
Mike: I wonder if she started "training" yet?
Avery: I don't know. That's a lot of games to go through.
They both burst out laughing, as she leans against the railing.
Avery: I better get ready myself. I don't want the would be "daredevil" to beat me now do I?
Mike: No you don't. She can't hold a flame to you anyway. No woman can.
Avery blushes.
Avery: Thank you. Why don't you start breakfast while I actually start training for my match.
Mike: Sounds like a plan.
Avery goes back into the bedroom and changes quickly and soon slips a pair of running shoes on her feet. She heads for the suite door, and out into the hallway.
Avery: Averi do you even know what it means to be a daredevil? Sure you were a cheerleader... And yes that can be dangerous, but that's nothing compared to what I've done in my life. I'm just a little older than you and I've traveled the world, explored places that have seen by only a handful of people and risked life and limb to survive. I've drove through a cargo plane that was coming down, I've flown a zeppelin and driven through the streets of London in a mini coupe and jumped the river as the bridge was going up. That is what a daredevil is. It is someone that takes major risks and is willing to put their lives on the line. Have you done that? Tell me what have you one to be even called a daredevil? Nothing.
She reaches the elevators and she presses the button to head down to the main floor.
Avery: I've held three titles in this company and yet you have to prove yourself here. You've had a couple of matches and have not managed to impress. You thought you had your match against Johnny Reb won, and even your little friend backed you but look what happened. You lost. And this match won't be any different. Soon you will realize why it's a bad idea to cross the one and only true daredevil.
The elevator doors open and she steps inside. Avery presses the button and soon the doors close as the scene fades to black.
Act 2: Let the Training Begin
The scene reopens on what appears to be an underground parking lot under the hotel. The cars that had once lined the parking lot had been moved by the valets. As the camera moves along the underground parking lot, we see what appears to be a ring set up. Avery stands looking up at it as a few ladders had been set up in it, along with tables and chairs scattered around the ring. She folds her arms and smiles as the hotel staff finish placing everything.
Avery: That looks great guys.
They walk away leaving Avery alone, as she climbs into the ring, and runs her hand along one of the rungs on the ladder smiling all the while.
Avery: Do you see this Averi with an I? This is what you challenged me to. I've been in worse matches and this is just a thrill for me if nothing else. I'm not afraid of anything in this ring, or around it. I mean have you ever been in a TLC match that wasn't in a video game? The next few days I will be putting my body through hell and back to get myself ready for our match to make sure I can handle anything that you are going throw at me. My husband will be helping me with that. Do you think you can really beat me when push comes to shove? How long do you really think you're going to last in this match when it all starts to get bloody and the pain starts to set in? I some how doubt you're going to last as long as you think you will.
Avery starts to climb the ladder and sits about half way up the middle of the ladder.
Avery: If you can get it through that little blond head of yours that there is a chance, a BIG CHANCE that you are not going to win this one you might actually become a decent wrestler. If not... You're going to be like every other flash in the pan that has come and gone in NCW. I don't think I really have anything else to say to you, let alone anything to really worry about from you. See you soon, and good luck... You're going to need it.
Avery climbs to the top of the ladder and comes off the top in a fluid movement as the scene fades to black.
