Biography
Kat was born in Perth, Western Australia, to Oliver and Miranda Shannon. She grew up as a lanky awkward girl, but grew into her body in high school. She excelled at basketball and soccer and after graduation she was accepted on full academic scholarship to Charles Darwin University. She declined an athletic scholarship from the girls soccer program. While lounging on the beaches just off campus she was noticed and began a side-job modeling. She graduated with degrees in mathematics and business.
Kat went to work for a New Zealander named Alec Hanes. Hanes had made a fortune mining copper and had branched out into other businesses. Impressed with both Kat’s figure and her resume, she became Hanes’ personal assistant. One of Hanes’ many acquisitions was a Japanese wrestling company called Action Expresses Wrestling, a purchase Kat had advised strongly against. Kat thought of wrestling as low-brow and never bothered with Alec’s “little hobby“, except to report it’s usual loses.
Action-Express was an underground sensation in Japan. With much lower income and production values than the mainstream feds like New Japan or All Japan, AEW drew fans from a small cult of connoisseurs, who appreciated its athleticism, violence, and storylines. It was steadily in the red.
She kept Alec Hanes’ books and traveled with him every where. Eventually the two fell in love. But as these things tend to do, the relationship faltered and the two broke up after being briefly engaged. Now out of work, Kat applied for other jobs. She didn’t have to wait long. A former wrestler with AEW, Henry Asano (The famous Grappler One of The Grappler’s tag-team) was now a factory owner in Osaka where AEW was headquartered. Having dealt with Hanes before in business, Asano knew Katrina and immediately offered her a job. She would occasionally have to deal with Henry’s pompous-ass of a rich kid son. Asano Metals built mostly small steel items, including all the metal turnbuckles for wrestling and boxing rings in the world.
Kat worked for Henry Asano for two years, now living fulltime in Japan. She covered the books for a multi-million dollar company until Henry died of stroke. Much to everyone’s shock, in his will, he left the CEO position to his son, Kenji Asano, who had recently returned from University in the States. The first thing he did was fire her.
After cleaning out her desk, and now frankly furious, Katrina returned to the young, new CEO’s office and told him off. Expecting to be escorted out by security, she was instead offered a job as Kenji’s Personal Assistant. She declined, having no interest in being the eye candy for another spoiled millionaire. After a brief and heated discussion, Katrina having been convinced that Kenji had no ulterior motives for her hiring, she signed out, negotiating a substantial raise in the process.
Things changed for Kat however, as Kenji left the company in capable hands and pursued his true calling full time: wrestling. She now spends all her time with Kenji on the road, and has been there through every twist and turn of his career. For six years they’ve worked side by side, and the two formed a strong bond. Their relationship in brother-sister strong, and has remained totally platonic if not always professional.
She still despises the sport, but enjoys the travel. True to form Kat never breaks her curtain rule, and though she often appears in promos with Kenji, she has never once ventured near the ring and has no plans to.
A Sample RP.
It is a beautiful day in L.A. and Kat Shannon was making the most of it. Her boss, millionaire industrialist and professional wrestler, Kenji Asano was hundreds of miles north in San Francisco. He was making final preparations for his match on Monday Night Madness in Oakland. Since Kat never actually attended the shows, when Kenji wrestled, and Kat got the day off. So now she was taking a jog. Her ear-buds in place, she moved quickly and easily on long legs, humming The Strokes as she ran. Soon enough she was back at her condo. Tossing her I-Pod onto the kitchen counter, she opened the fridge, pulling out a bottle of water. She tilted her long neck back, taking a long drink. With a sigh of satisfaction, she twisted the cap back on the bottle. About to go upstairs, she stops when her phone rings.
Kat: This is Katrina Shannon.
Her Australian accent comes through unmistakably. She listens.
Kat: Oh. Wow, I uh… This is sort of new. Usually it’s Ken getting the publicity calls.
Another pause.
Kat: When would we do the shoot? That soon. Where? No, I’m staying here in L.A. I’m still not sure if…
She listens for a few moments.
Kat: Uh huh…
Pause.
Kat: …well… What the hell. You’re on. See you tomorrow.
She hangs up and quickly dials another number. After a moment, she begins shaking her free hand in that excited girl motion.
Kat: Hello? Deb? Oh my God! I just got a call to be in Maxim magazine!
Pause.
Kat: Tomorrow! Jennifer Love Hewitt backed out at the last second, it’s going to be the cover of the October issue!
Suddenly, her eyes widen.
Kat: God’s balls! I’ve got to tan, I’ve got to get my hair done! Deb! Deb! I have to go!
She hangs up and sprints up the stairs to shower…
